Today the preservation and re-use of knowledge is a big issue for any technology-oriented company. Companies like AVL List with 6,200 employees collect massive amounts of data and knowledge sources over time, which differ in terms of origin, structure and accessibility and arise at multiple locations.

Within a joint project, Know-Center and AVL brought together these invaluable knowledge sources in a “Unique Point of Access” and semantically linked them to make this knowledge available to all company employees at the right time and in the right context. Depending on the task, we developed different approaches to accessing the aggregated and semantically enriched database. Not only existing documents but company employees who recently dealt with the same problem, customer or product (“Expert Recommendation”) are made available.


“This ensures an improved enterprise-wide collaboration between experts in different locations,” says Horst Pflügl by AVL with regard to the successful project with Know-Center.
