Senior Researcher (Postdoctoral) in the Area of Open Science

We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher in Social Computing who is particularly interested in Open Science. Initially, the candidate will work in projects that aim to design and develop policy recommendations and workflows for Open Science, as well as on studying open science platforms, tools and methods. The candidate is expected to actively contribute to the research and industry-related strategy of the Open Science area in research and to contribute to the acquisition of projects (proposals, industry collaborations). We are looking for a candidate with a long-term commitment to Know-Center.

You will work in the interdisciplinary Social Computing team led by Ass. Prof. Dr. Elisabeth Lex, which aims to utilize and exploit the resources of our digital age for human benefit. For more information, please visit

Your qualifications
  • PhD in Computer Science, Informatics, Information Science, Software Development, Telematics or similar disciplines
  • International publications in at least one of these areas: Open Science, Science Communication, Bibliometrics
  • Experience in leading scientific projects / experience as a work package leader of EU projects
  • Experience in scientific proposal writing on national and international levels
  • Experience with scientific evaluations and reports
  • Experience with Open Source software development and other Open Science instruments (e.g., Open Access, Open Data)
  • Knowledge of bibliometrics and data science
  • Fluent English, both spoken and written. Knowledge of German is a plus
Interest in
  • Open Science and Open Science instruments (Open Access, Open Data, Open Methodology, etc.)
  • Publication writing
  • Leading scientific, applied research and industry-related projects
  • Contributing to Open Science networks and initiatives
