Elisabeth Lex, deputy head of the Social Computing research group, successfully presented two Know-Center papers in Bloomington, Indiana. In addition to her research activities the expert for web science also teaches as university assistant at the Technical University of Graz and she has already gathered a lot of experience in the field of web research.

The web science conference is an interdisciplinary conference that combines different disciplines such as psychology, sociology and economy in order to study  the web and its influence on society and technology.

The paper What Really Works: Reflections on Applied Methods in a Real World Interdisciplinary Project was particularly handed in at the workshop Interdisciplinary Coups to Calamities and deals with the topic of interdisciplinary teamwork that is based on the experiences of interdisciplinary teamwork at Know-center. The aim of the workshop was to create a taxonomy and the previously done work at Know-Center could especially contribute.

The second accepted Know-Center paper Graph Visualization using Hierarchical Aggregation and Edge Bundling, written by Vedran Sabol, Ralph Wozelka and Elisabeth Lex, took part in the ACM Web Science Data Challenge. The aim of the paper is to develop innovative visualizations for web data, to detect interest groups in a big social bookmarking data set, to make it accessible and efficiently navigable.
